6 weeks later…

-Oscar Dean

So, the time has finally come to say good bye to GT after the last 6 weeks. The internship has not been easy; it has been busy, hard work and challenging. Most importantly though, it has been an opportunity to learn and has left me feeling very accomplished. During my time here I have worked on a variety of different audits for different periods of time meeting CEO’s, finance directors and other very interesting clients! I have also been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to spend time in tax, marketing and corporate finance – 3 very different areas which have all given me valuable insights I really will not forget!

If you are joining and feeling anxious, worried or have any other apprehension: don’t! Starting something new always causes the nerves to kick in but there really is no need at GT. I have been welcomed by everyone I have met and have remained a valued part of the team. I have met people I will remain in contact with and have always had people that I can approach should I need to.

What I have really learnt about Grant Thornton’s culture is to just ask! Opportunities are everywhere. Everyone wants to support you and see you do well, if there is something you want to try, the answer will probably be yes. So if I am to offer any insight to someone starting it would be to be ambitious and don’t be afraid to try something new!
