Talent 18: What to know!
If you are reading the blog, you may be one of the 382 graduates, school leavers and placement students to have made it through the rigorous process that is recruitment. You underwent online tests, a digital interview, and finally an experience day where you had your face-to-face interview and would have been chosen out of the 9,000+ applicants to join our Grant Thornton Family.
By now you may have spent some days in your respective offices, met the team and maybe even had the all-important welcome drinks.
This coming week we have something even more special planned for you - Grant Thornton invites you to the official welcome. TALENT 18. This will be our biggest Talent yet!
The purpose of talent is to introduce you to our firm’s purpose, strategy and culture, giving you the knowledge and behaviors you need to be able to engage with clients.
During the week we will give you an insight of what to expect in your coming year, you will have a chance to hear from some of the GT leadership team; including our CEO Sacha Romanovitch, on the firm’s purpose and strategy and where you fit into this.
There will be team building activities where you will have a chance to demonstrate to us the GT values of Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Respect and Responsibility. Not to forget, a large dose of ethics and its importance in the accountancy profession. Oh, and of course you’ll enjoy some delicious meals!
It is also an opportunity for you to meet many of the other new joiners from across the firm nationwide. So make the most of it. Create some new friends and memories. The people you see sitting next to you will be your comrades here at GT, you share experience of your first client engagements with them, stress over your exams and support one another in times of despair.
Although you are all spread out across the different offices, you will meet again - during client work, training at Bradenham or our annual football tournament.
By the end of the week we hope:
- You will feel welcomed to the firm
- Connected with the GT purpose of shaping a Vibrant Economy and our focus on Growth, Quality and Culture
- Have a foundational knowledge of our approach to Quality, Risk and Reputation
- Be clear on what you can expect from us and what we expect from you in return
- Feel supported in your transition into corporate life
- Meet and build relationships with your trainee peers and new colleagues
- Develop your technical understanding so you are ready to add value
Keep an eye out for members of the Spilling the Beans team who will be there to answer any questions you have and you will also have a chance to feature in our TALENT 18 vlog.
See you all at Warwick University!
